Kapitel 28

1 Und es begab sich6908 zu derselben Zeit3117, daß die Philister6430 ihr3045 Heer4264 versammelten6908, in Streit zu ziehen wider3898 Israel3478. Und Achis397 sprach559 zu David1732: Du sollst wissen3045, daß du und deine Männer582 sollt mit mir ausziehen3318 ins Heer6635.

2 David1732 sprach559 zu Achis397: Wohlan, du sollst erfahren3045, was dein7218 Knecht5650 tun6213 wird. Achis397 sprach559 zu David1732: Darum3651 will ich dich8104 zum Hüter meines Haupts setzen7760 mein Leben lang.

3 Samuel8050 aber war gestorben4191, und ganz Israel3478 hatte Leid5594 um ihn getragen und ihn begraben6912 in seiner Stadt5892 Rama7414. So hatte Saul7586 aus dem Lande776 vertrieben5493 die Wahrsager178 und Zeichendeuter3049.

4 Da nun die Philister6430 sich6908 versammelten6908 und kamen935 und lagerten sich2583 zu Sunem7766, versammelte Saul7586 auch das ganze Israel3478, und lagerten sich6908 zu Gilboa1533.

5 Da aber Saul7586 der Philister6430 Heer4264 sah7200, fürchtete3372 er sich2729, und sein Herz3820 verzagte sehr3966.

6 Und7586 er ratfragte7592 den HErrn3068; aber der HErr3068 antwortete6030 ihm nicht, weder durch Träume2472, noch durchs Licht224, noch durch Propheten5030.

7 Da sprach559 Saul7586 zu seinen Knechten5650: Suchet mir ein Weib802 die einen Wahrsagergeist178 hat1245, daß ich zu ihr gehe3212 und sie frage1875. Seine Knechte5650 sprachen559 zu ihm: Siehe, zu Endor5874 ist ein Weib802, die hat1172 einen Wahrsagergeist178.

8 Und582 Saul7586 wechselte2664 seine Kleider899 und zog3847 andere312 an; und ging935 hin3212, und zween andere mit ihm, und kamen bei der Nacht3915 zum Weibe802; und sprach559: Lieber, weissage7080 mir8147 durch den Wahrsagergeist178 und bringe mir herauf5927, den ich dir sage559.

9 Das3772 Weib802 sprach559 zu4191 ihm: Siehe, du weißest wohl, was Saul7586 getan6213 hat, wie3045 er die Wahrsager178 und Zeichendeuter3049 ausgerottet hat vom Lande; warum willst du denn meine See LE5315 in das776 Netz5367 führen, daß ich ertötet werde?

10 Saul7586 aber schwur7650 ihr bei dem HErrn3068 und sprach559: So wahr der HErr3068 lebet, es1697 soll518 dir dies nicht zur Missetat5771 geraten7136.

11 Da sprach559 das Weib802: Wen soll ich dir denn heraufbringen5927? Er sprach559: Bringe mir Samuel8050 herauf5927.

12 Da nun das6963 Weib802 Samuel8050 sah7200, schrie2199 sie802 laut1419 und sprach559 zu Saul7586: Warum hast du559 mich betrogen7411? Du bist Saul7586.

13 Und der König4428 sprach559 zu ihr7200: Fürchte3372 dich nicht, was siehest du? Das Weib802 sprach559 zu Saul7586: Ich sehe7200 Götter430 heraufsteigen5927 aus der Erde776.

14 Er sprach559: Wie ist er gestaltet8389? Sie sprach559: Es kommt ein alter Mann376 herauf5927 und2205 ist bekleidet5844 mit einem Seidenrock. Da vernahm Saul7586, daß es Samuel8050 war, und neigte6915 sich3045 mit seinem Antlitz639 zur Erde776 und betete7812 an.

15 Samuel8050 aber sprach559 zu Saul7586: Warum hast du mich unruhig gemacht7264, daß du mich heraufbringen lässest? Saul7586 sprach559: Ich3045 bin sehr3966 geängstet6887, die Philister6430 streiten3898 wider mich, und GOtt430 ist5493 von3027 mir gewichen und antwortet6030 mir nicht, weder durch Propheten5030 noch durch Träume; darum habe7121 ich dich lassen5927 rufen, daß du mir weisest, was2472 ich tun6213 solle.

16 Samuel8050 sprach559: Was willst du mich fragen7592, weil der HErr3068 von dir gewichen und dein Feind6145 worden ist5493?

17 Der HErr3068 wird dir tun6213, wie er durch mich geredet hat1696, und3068 wird das Reich4467 von3027 deiner Hand3027 reißen7167 und David1732, deinem Nächsten7453, geben5414,

18 darum daß du der Stimme6963 des HErrn3068 nicht gehorchet und6213 den Grimm2740 seines834 Zorns639 nicht ausgerichtet hast wider Amalek, hat8085 dir der HErr3068 solches1697 jetzt3117 getan6213.

19 Dazu wird der HErr3068 Israel3478 mit dir auch geben5414 in der Philister6430 Hände3027. Morgen4279 wirst du und deine Söhne1121 mit mir sein. Auch wird der HErr3068 das Heer4264 Israels3478 in der Philister6430 Hände3027 geben5414.

20 Da fiel5307 Saul7586 zur Erde776, so lang6967 er3899 war4393, und erschrak3372 sehr3966 vor den Worten Samuels, daß keine Kraft3581 mehr in ihm8050 war; denn er hatte nichts1697 gegessen398 den ganzen Tag3117 und die ganze Nacht3915.

21 Und das1697 Weib802 ging935 hinein zu Saul7586 und sah7200, daß er sehr3966 erschrocken war926, und sprach559 zu ihm: Siehe, deine Magd8198 hat8085 deiner Stimme6963 gehorchet und habe1696 meine See LE5315 in meine Hand3709 gesetzt7760, daß ich deinen Worten gehorchte8085, die du zu mir sagtest.

22 So gehorche auch nun du deiner Magd8198 Stimme6963. Ich will dir6440 einen Bissen6595 Brots3899 vorsetzen, daß du essest398, daß du zu8085 Kräften3581 kommest und7760 deine Straße1870 gehest3212.

23 Er aber weigerte sich3427 und sprach559: Ich will nicht3985 essen398. Da nötigten ihn6555 seine Knechte5650 und das Weib802, daß er ihrer Stimme6963 gehorchte8085. Und er stund auf6965 von der Erde776 und setzte sich aufs Bett4296.

24 Das Weib802 aber hatte daheim1004 ein gemästet Kalb5695; da eilete sie4116 und2076 schlachtete es; und nahm3947 Mehl7058 und knetete3888 es und buk644 es ungesäuert4682.

25 Und brachte es herzu5066 vor6440 Saul7586 und vor seine Knechte5650. Und da sie6965 gegessen398 hatten, stunden sie auf6440 und gingen3212 die Nacht3915.

Chapter 28

1 AND it came to pass in those days, the Philistines gathered their armies together in the valley for war to fight with Israel. And Achish said to David, Know assuredly that you shall go out with me to the host, you and your men.Samuel 291 NOW the Philistines gathered together all their armies at Aphek; and the Israelites were encamped by the fountain which is in Jezreel.

2 And David said to Achish, Surely you shall know what your servant can do. And Achish said to David, Therefore I will make you my bodyguard forever. And the lords of the Philistines were passing in review by hundreds and by thousands; but David and his men marched in the rear with Achish.

3 Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had mourned over him and buried him in Ramtha in his own sepulchre. And Saul had put away the diviners and the wizards out of the land. Then the princes of the Philistines said to Achish, Why are these men marching here? And Achish said to the princes of the Philistines, This is David, the servant of Saul, the king of Israel, who has been with us a year and some months, and I have found no fault in him from the day he came to me until this day.

4 And the Philistines gathered themselves together, and came and encamped in Shechem; and Saul gathered all Israel together, and they encamped in Gilgal. But the princes of the Philistines were angry with him; and they said to him, Drive this fellow out of the camp, that he may return to his place which you have assigned him; and let him not go with us to the battle, lest he be an adversary to us there; for how could this man reconcile himself to his lord, except with our heads?

5 And when Saul saw the army of the Philistines, he was afraid, and his heart greatly trembled. Is not this David, of whom the daughters of Israel sang one to another with timbrels, saying, Saul has slain his thousands, and David his tens of thousands?

6 And when Saul inquired of the LORD, he did not answer him, either by dreams or by fire or by prophets. Then Achish called David and said to him, As the LORD lives, you have been upright, and your coming in and your going out with me in the battle is good in my sight; for I have not found evil in you since the day of your coming to us to this day; nevertheless you are not good in the sight of the lords.

7 Then Saul said to his servants, Seek me a woman who has a familiar spirit, that I may go to her and inquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman who has a familiar spirit at Endor.Wherefore now return, and go in peace, that you may not displease the lords of the Philistines.

8 And Saul disguised himself and put on other raiment, and he went and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night; and Saul said to her, Divine for me by the familiar spirit, and bring up for me him whom I shall tell you.And David said to Achish, But what have I done? And what have you found in your servant from the day that I have come to you until this day, that I may not go and fight against the enemies of my lord the king?

9 And the woman said to him, Behold, you know what Saul has done, how he has removed those who have familiar spirits and the wizards out of the land. Why then are you laying a snare for my life to cause me to be put to death? And Achish answered and said to David, I know that you are as good in my sight as an angel of God; but the princes of the Philistines have said, He shall not go with us to the battle.

10 And Saul swore to her by the LORD, saying, As the LORD lives, there shall no harm come upon you for this thing. Now therefore rise up early in the morning with your master's servants who came with you; and at daybreak, go on your way.

11 Then the woman said, Whom shall I bring up to you? And he said, Bring me up Samuel. So David and his men rose up early in the morning to return to the land of the Philistines. And the Philistines went up to Jezreel.

12 And when the woman saw Samuel, she cried out with a loud voice; and she said to Saul, Why have you deceived me? For you are Saul.

13 And the king said to her, Fear not; what do you see? And the woman said to Saul, I saw gods ascending out of the earth.

14 And he said to her, What is their appearance? And she said to him, An old man is coming up; and he is covered with a mantle. And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he bowed with his face to the ground and made obeisance.

15 And Samuel said to Saul, Why have you disturbed me to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am sore distressed; for the Philistines are making war against me, and God has departed from me, and answers me no more although I have inquired by the prophets and also by dreams; therefore I have called you, that you may tell me what I shall do.

16 Then Samuel said to Saul, Why do you ask of me, seeing the LORD has departed from you, and now he is with your neighbor David?

17 And the LORD has done to him, as he spoke by me; for he has rent asunder the kingdom out of your hand and given it to your neighbor David;

18 Because you did not obey the voice of the LORD and did not execute his fierce wrath upon Amalek, therefore the LORD has done this thing to you this day.

19 Moreover the LORD will also deliver Israel with you into the hand of the Philistines; and tomorrow you and your sons shall be with me; the LORD also shall deliver the army of Israel into the hand of the Philistines.

20 Then Saul fell straightway upon his face on the ground, and was exceedingly afraid because of the words of Samuel; and there was no strength in him; for he had eaten no bread all that day, nor all that night.

21 And the woman came to Saul, and saw that he was exceedingly afraid, and said to him, Behold, your handmaid has obeyed your voice, and I have put my life in your hand, and have listened to the words which you spoke to me.

22 Now therefore, listen also to the voice of your handmaid, and let me set a morsel of bread before you; and eat, that you may have strength, because you are going on a journey.

23 But he refused, and said, I will not eat. But his servants, together with the woman, begged him; and he hearkened to their voice. So he arose from the ground and sat upon the bed.

24 Now the woman had a fatted calf in the house; and she made haste and killed it, and took flour and kneaded it and baked unleavened bread;

25 And she brought it before Saul and before his servants; and they ate. Then they rose up and went away that night.
